Born To Film
Tim at the age of nine was given an old 9.5mm film projector
and cartoon of Popeye by his brother, John. This opened up
a whole new world of magic in the form of moving pictures.
This media inspired him at school and he would draw tiny squares
on the sticky side of sellotape. Then fill them in with a
sequence of pictures, complete with drawn sprocket holes and
even a wiggly optical sound track. Another layer of sellotape
was stuck to the first and he had made his first film!
Aged 14, he and his dad went to a BBC open day at Holm Moss
transmitting station and saw his first ever live TV camera
and said to his dad, I want to be a cameraman and work
for the BBC!Years later after first training and qualifying
as an electrical engineer, his first job in the media was
to work with 16mm film as cameraman, editor and even A
& B roll neg cutter.
Tim eventually became self employed as a freelance cameraman
working mainly on corporate productions and many TV commercials.
Destiny made his wish come true when he did work for the BBC
as a freelance cameraman, then Sky Sports, C4 Wales, Granada
Television and Yorkshire TV.
Today he is still very busily self employed and has gained
much broadcast experience over the years. He has over the
years invested in several broadcast cameras. First was a Sony
400 Beta SP but he now owns a Sony DVCam DSR570 and as well
as the usual lighting kit he has all the basic audio equipment.
Recently he has expanded his in-house non linear editing facility
and can master onto DVD. To complete the picture he runs a
Ford Galaxy as a crew car with Sat Nav, and operates under
the name...
